PPA #267 – A Flowery Feeling

This weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge is a yummy mix of colors.  This challenge pulled together 3 colors from 3 different color families that work beautifully together.

These three colors really lend themselves to a very cheerful card and that’s exactly what I set out to create.  The focal point of my card is the fun scalloped flowers from the Crazy About You stamp set.  When you talk about a versatile stamp set(if you ever do) this one is sure to be at the top of the list.  It has 3 floral images, 2 of which coordinate with punches and 28 sentiments that can be mixed and matched to create many different messages.  This set is a true value!

The message is from the Garden In Bloom stamp set.  The DSP background is from the Cherry On Top Paper Stack.  These little paper stacks are also a great value as most cards only require a small piece of DSP and these are 6″ x 6″ which makes them perfect.  These stacks also offer a great selection of different designs on both the front and back, so you can always find the perfect paper for your projects.  I also find that I usually use all of these stacks way before they retire.

The scalloped flowers were stamped twice for each flower and punched with the 1 3/4 Scallop Punch. I snipped the top layer of flowers to give the petals a 3D look. The centers are Pool Party Candy Dots.  Although there is a lot of dimension in this card, I did not use any Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Before I matted Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and the DSP on an A2 Whisper White card, I ran the 3 matted papers through the Big Shot using a framelit from the Lots of Labels Framelits to create a window and then framed it with the next larger size framelit.  I positioned the cut mat on the Whisper White card but did not glue it.  Next, with the mat in position, I stamped the sentiment inside the window.  Then when I was happy with the stamped sentiment, I glued the mat to the card.  I was afraid it might take more than one try, but I was lucky this time. The effect is a recessed look.

The envelope was embellished and left blank until I need to send it.  I also decorated the front and inside of the envelope.

Hope this card was a cheerful addition to your day!
