Big Birthday Bloom

I am naturally drawn to florals, so this card was really fun to create….

The inspiration behind this card came from two challenges I am participating in.  Pals Paper Arts #287 is a color challenge this week and the colors are fabulous.  The Global Design Project #022 is a fantastic sketch challenge.

The focal point of this card is definitely the flower from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set.  This is one of my favorite sets and this particular stamp is definitely my favorite of the bunch.  It makes such a statement on every card I’ve used it on.  It is easily punched out using the Fun Flower Punch.  I stamped the full flower twice and colored it using Calypso Coral ink and a blender pen.  I then punch both out along with another punch of just Calypso Coral cardstock.  I then stamped another flower just capturing the center and colored it with markers.  The center had to be hand snipped but it was very easy to do.  I then layered the pieces using two dimensionals.  For the leaves I simply cut two ferns from the Botanical Builder Framelits in Old Olive cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Something to Say stamp set.

The background paper is from the Sale-a-bration catalog and has such wonderful patterns…it’s hard to believe it was free!

I used a sentiment from the Cottage Greetings stamp set for the inside and decorate both the inside and envelope flap with some DSP.  I should also mention that this card is a 5 x 5 square so I created the envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

I hope this card brightened your day a bit.  I needed to see flowers as it is 14 degrees mid-afternoon here today!

Thanks for looking in today and if you have any questions, please just leave me a comment or email and I will be sure to get back to you.

  2. While the floral DSP the smaller print at the center allowed you to add all the beautiful details. The result is stunning.

  3. Rosanne, this card is OTT gorgeous. Have already pinned it. When I was reading your description, I had to take a look at my stamp set, stamp and pull out the 7/8″ scallop punch just to be sure it would work. The punch does not get quite as close as your wonder fussy cutting, but it gets close. Just wanted to make sure you knew about the punch (from one Pal to another). My favorite detail is the center banding… looks wonderful! Thanks so much for brightening my day and playing along with my color challenge this week. Always look forward to your gallery entries!!

    • Thanks so much, Katy…your color combination was terrific and fun to work with! I am going to give the scallop punch a try as I have another project in mind that would require snipping that center.

  4. What an absolutely darling card Roseanne. That background floral DSP is my favorite in that pack, and I love those leaves from Botanical Gardens, I love how you used them.

  5. Rosanne – This card is gorgoeus! What a great way to pull this flower and paper together. Love it! Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Global Design Project Sketch Challenge!

  6. Wow, Rosanne, the flower really is the focus of this card! Love the way you layered two stamped flower and one unstamped flower. Thanks so much for joining us this week at Pals Paper Arts!

  7. Beautiful. Love how vivid these colors look and the way you’ve combined all the elements to create this bold look. Thanks for playing with Pals Paper Arts.

  8. Could you leave me the designer paper names please. Lovely card – I also love the tear drop designer paper, just couldn’t place which it was. Tks Del
