I’m running a little behind with my post today…must be that hour we lost! I’m certainly not complaining. Daylight Savings Time is just another indication that spring is coming…soon. Today’s card is a congratulatory card for a young lady who was just accepted into a very competitive graduate program.
I am entering this card in the Stamp, Ink, Paper #38 Color Challenge….
I love this color combination. For me, I am most comfortable working with softer colors and this combination really spoke to me.
The focal point of this card is the beautiful butterfly from the Watercolor Wings stamp set. I stamped it in Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand. The body is stamped with Early Expresso. I cut it out using the Bold Butterflies Framelits. Then I sponged a piece of vellum with Blushing Bride ink and cut the layered butterfly from the Butterflies Framelits. This really seems to give my butterfly “wings” and dimension.
The sentiment, from the Feels Good stamp set, is stamped in Pear Pizzazz and seemed very appropriate for the occasion. I used a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set, stamped in Sahara Sand to create a little background along with a little butterfly from the Kinda Electic stamp set. For this butterfly, I stamped it in Blushing Bride and stamped off twice before I stamped on the card so that it was just a shadow. Lastly, I used the Blushing Bride Sequin Trim to add a little shine.
The inside sentiment is from the Best Thoughts Hostess stamp set. If you do not already have this, I would definitely put it on your next order as it probably won’t come back after this Annual Catalog and it is wonderful. The DSP on the inside and envelope flap is from the Subtles Designer Series Pack and just finishes this card off so nicely.
I know my young friend will really love this card, as she is interested in stamping herself. I hope that you enjoyed it as well.
Take care,
Rosanne
