Peach of Birthday Bloom

It’s a cold and dreary day here today but making this card really brightened it for me.  I am playing along with the Can You Case It #117 color challenge…..

I love the combination of cream and black and peach is such a nice addition to this combo.

I just can’t seem to get enough of this beautiful flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set that is available in the Occasions catalog.  But the good news is that it is carrying over to the Annual catalog so I will have plenty more opportunities to have fun with it.  The card base is Very Vanilla with a mat of Basic Black and a pattern from the Timeless Elegance DSP pack.  The band is Very Vanilla embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder.  I hadn’t noticed this before but the embossing matches the pattern on the DSP perfectly.  The trim is Calypso Coral.

The flower is stamped on Very Vanilla in Versa Mark and heat embossed in black embossing powder.  Then colored using Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi inks and a blender pen.  I added Wink of Stella to the bloom only and it is quite striking in person.  I wish the camera would translate that better.  The sentiment is from the good ole’ Tin of Cards stamp set, which happily is also carrying over.  It is also stamped in Versa Mark and embossed in black.  I punched it out using the Decorative Label punch. I also colored a few pearls with a black sharpie.

The inside sentiment is from the Wild About Flowers stamp set, also carrying over!  I used some older Subtles DSP for the envelope flap.  I think this is a great way to use what you have leftover and still get a great coordinating effect.

I hope this card brightened your day just a little and that you would leave a comment!  I love reading them and answering them, too!  Thanks for spending a bit of time with me today.

Until next time,

Rosanne

  4. Hi there, Rosanne! I’m just a Stampin up customer new to stamping this past January. I love looking at cards and found yours!! I’m so thrilled because this stamp set is just brand new! And I have all the right colors! Yay!! But I’m really having trouble figuring out all the measurements!! I need help!! I so want to make your card!! I just LOVE IT and this pretty flower. Are you allowed to help me out?? I don’t know any of the “rules” so I’m just asking. You can find me at vrohm@shaw.CA. I would love make and have this beautiful card!! Thanks, Rosanne!! • Hi Veronica, I would be happy to share the measurements and it is certainly allowed! The card base is an A2 card (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″). The black mat is 1/8″ smaller (5 3/8″ x 4 1/8). The DSP layer is another 1/8″ smaller (5 1/4″ x 4″). The embossed band is 1 3/4″ x 4 and the Calypso Coral trim is 2″ x 4″. However, I only cut thin strips of Calypso Coral and glued them to the embossed piece instead of wasting my cardstock. I always try to look for ways to conserve cardstock. For example, I made a few die cut tags from the center of the black piece to use on another project…once it is covered with another layer you cannot tell it was cut. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I hope you are enjoying this fabulous hobby!

  5. Beautiful card I love all cards made different flower stamps thank you for the idea
