Today’s card was a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but was inspired by the Can You Case It #119 Color Challenge…..
I am always a little challenged when it comes to working with metallic colors. I like cards that use them and have the sparkle and shine but am afraid of going overboard. Well, I just took the plunge with this challenge and may have gone a little over in the sparkle and shine department but am still happy with the results. I wonder what you think?
The card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock matted with a layer of Night of Navy cardstock. The sparkle and shine come from embossing the flourish image from the Timeless Textures stamp set in gold embossing powder and then adding a few little layers of gold foil to the sentiment area. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy ink using my still favorite sentiment set, Tin of Cards. I cut it out and layered it using the Lots of Labels framelits.
The inside is embellished with some additional cardstock. I really like to do this and usually always do, as I like the inside of the card to have more of a visual appeal than just a sentiment. It only takes a few seconds and usually only uses scraps from the front of the card…so why not? The sentiment here is from Wild About Flowers stamp set and is so fitting on a Congratulations card. This is another one of those cards that can fit any number of occasions and are great to have on hand.
I also always line either the inside of the envelope or the flap depending on the amount of coordinating DSP I have. For this envelope, I really reached back into my retired stash. I think this was from 4 or 5 years back. But I still have some and using it on envelopes is a great way to use it up and still have a coordinated card.
Luckily, all the stamp sets used on this card are being carried over in the new Annual Catalog so we will still have another whole year to “play” with them.
Thanks very much for stopping by today. I welcome any comments and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Until next time,
