Comfort & Healing

I’m back today with a card using one of the new stamp sets, Flourishing Phrases.  One of my goals for the new catalog period is to acquire more sentiment sets.  I feel like I’ve exhausted the ones I have and need some fresh ones.  This set fits the bill. It doesn’t just apply to a certain occasion like birthday or thank you.  It has sentiments for just about any occasion, except birthdays.

With this card, I am playing along with the Global Design Project #039 theme challenge and the Can You Case It #123 color challenge….

I wasn’t sure if the color combination would be suited for a get well card, but I think this card is cheerful and comforting at the same time.

The card base is Whisper White thick cardstock with a mat from the new DSP collection, Floral Boutique.  This collection is absolutely stunning!  I have another goal with this new catalog, to stop saving my DSP and start using it until it’s gone or I have to order it again. This paper will probably fall into the order again category…it is just that beautiful and classic.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-06-08-1336)The centerpiece is a new Delicate White Doily.  These doilies are a bit smaller than the old Tea Lace Doilies and are easier to fit on a card.  I stamped the sentiment, from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, directly onto the doily with Night of Navy ink.  Then to frame it, I used a circle and a scalloped circle from the new Layering Circle framelits and created a frame around the sentiment.  I should also mention that I cut a small circle the same size as the center of the doily and put it behind the doily so that when I glued it to the card you couldn’t see the glue marks or see through to the patterned paper since the doily is a little thinner.

The flowers are from the Petite Petals stamp set and are stamped in Real Red ink and punched with the Petite Petals punch.  A few small pearls for the center finishes it off.

The inside sentiment is from the same set.  I embellished the inside with a strip of DSP as well as the envelope flap.  I’ve said this before, but this is a great way to use the small leftovers of DSP and to present a totally custom coordinated card.

Here’s the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, so you can see the variety of sentiments in this one set.  The images are fantastic also and there is a coordinating framelit set, Flourish Thinlits.FullSizeRender

I know this is a set that I will be using over and over….just a warning!
