Friendship Planter

Happy Friday!  Hope you are looking forward to a fun Father’s Day weekend.  Ours will be quiet.  We started a new tradition this year and celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day together, which we did two weekends ago.  Our girls have spouses and significant others so this allows them to celebrate with both sets of parents and we get to have the whole family together…which doesn’t happen too often anymore.

My card today is for the Global Design Project #040 Case the Designer Challenge…

This is such a beautiful card that Shawn created, I wasn’t sure what exactly to CASE.  The colors are so pretty as is the coloring and shading.  However, I love this image so that’s what I decided to go with.

The card base is Calypso Coral with a Whisper White mat embossed with the Brick Wall embossing folder.  A little sponging with Crumb Cake ink brings out the bricks nicely.

The flower image is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and stamped in Early Expresso ink.  I colored them with Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin’ Write markers.  These were fussy cut! The planter is a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that I just cut on a diagonal on each side and embossed with the Woodgrain folder. After embossing, I sponged it with Crumb Cake ink. For the top edge, I cut a label from the Project Life Cards & Labels framelits and then cut it in half horizontally and glued it to top of the “planter”.

The sentiment is from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and is heat embossed with the new copper embossing powder, which is so pretty, then cut it with another framelit from the Project Life Cards & Labels framelits collection.  A couple of Calypso Coral candy dots are a nice accent.

The inside is embellished with a little bit of stamping and coloring as is the front of the envelope.  This really doesn’t take too much time and I think it makes the card so coordinated and complete.
