Today’s card is my entry in the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge. What I especially like about color challenges is that they are often color combinations that I would never think of myself but they always look beautiful together. This one is no exception….
This card is pulling double duty as I will be sending it to my sister for her birthday this weekend.
The card size is 5″ x 5″. I don’t make square cards that often but really enjoy it when I do. The card base is Island Indigo with a mat of Sahara Sand Designer Series Paper. Before I adhered the DSP layer to the card base, I cut a scalloped circle from the Layering Circles framelits in the center. Then cut the next larger scalloped circle in Island Indigo and glued it to create a frame. I stamped the sentiment, which is from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set, in Island Indigo ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and centered it in the cut circle. Then I glued the DSP over the sentiment.
The flowers are from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, which is still my favorite set in the catalog! They are stamped in Basic Black ink and colored in using Daffodil Delight and Sweet Sugarplum markers. Although it’s only evident on the flower to the left, all the flowers have that Wink of Stella on them. They actually look quite lovely in person. I popped each of them up with dimensionals and then added a few matching, though not SU, sequins.
The inside sentiment is also from the Birthday Blooms set.
I cheated a bit on the envelope. It’s one I had laying around and was just the perfect size. The front is embellished with another stamp from the Birthday Blooms set and the back flap with a little piece of DSP.
Again, this is not a color combination that I would have put together myself but it is absolutely lovely. I hope you enjoyed these colors and card. Thanks very much for stopping by.
Take care,
Rosanne
