Here’s a first for me….A Shaker Card! I know I’m a little late to the shaker party and really don’t know why it’s taken so long for me to make one of these. I think I just needed the perfect occasion and this card was for my daughter, Emily’s birthday….
Emily is one of my biggest fans when it comes to card making, so I always try to send her (and all my daughters) really fun cards.
- The Flirty Flamingo card base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ and is scored at 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″. This is a “Z” fold card and there are a multitude of tutorials out there to follow.
- The DSP is from the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper Pack (#141660) .
- I stamped the sentiment, from the Layering Love (#141965) Stamp Set in Real Red ink and cut it out using one of the Layering Circles Framelits Dies (#141705).
- To create the shaker part I cut the scalloped circle along with another plain circle to create a frame. The Layering Circles Framelits make is so easy to do this, as there are so many sizes in this collection. Using a Window Sheet (#142314) and Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825) made it easy to complete the shaker.
- TIP! Don’t use too many sequins…I got carried away on one of the cards I made and they were barely able to “shake”.
- The inside panel is stamped with a sentiment from the Designer Tin of Cards Stamp Set (#141739). The little flowers are from the Mixed Borders Stamp Set (#141932) which I cut apart to get just these cute little images.
- The center panel was left blank to write a personal note.
This card was a lot of fun to make and I’m already thinking about the next one! I will be entering this card into The Paper Players theme challenge….
I mentioned above that Emily is one of my biggest fans. Well I’m also her BIGGEST fan. She is one special young woman and was recently named a New Jersey Hero by Governor Christie for her work as the Director of the Helen Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children. Here is the article that appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
A New Jersey hero brings blind children to the beach.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMILY!
Thanks for indulging this proud mama!
Take care,
Rosanne
What a fun, happy card! Love it!! And what a wonderful program your daughter is involved in. She’s a special person/hero!!!
Very clever to combine your shaker with a Z fold! Emily will love her card and so do I! You must be bursting with pride over your daughter’s accomplishments! Sounds like she is a special young lady!
Oh this is fabulous, Rosanne! I was wondering if anyone would use the circle element as a shaker. And I love shakers! Thanks for playing along with us this week at The Paper Players!
This is so fun and pretty! Love the colors and the layout of your shaker card. I’m keeping this one in my mind, LOL. Thanks for playing with the Paper Players circle challenge this week.
