A Simply Charming Mother’s Day

I hope your week is going well so far and we’re half way to the weekend…YAY!  Today’s card is totally a “me” card.  I think my style would be categorized (mostly) as clean, simple and classic and that’s exactly how I would describe this card.

Even though this card has lots of white space, the embossed texture adds a pretty element while keeping it clean and simple.

The card base is Whisper White thick card stock.  A piece of Real Red card stock cut at 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ is layered with a piece of Whisper White regular card stock cut an additional 1/8″ smaller.  I embossed the Whisper White layer with the Quilt Topper Embossing Folder before gluing it directly to the Real Red card stock.  The photo looks a bit like Cherry Cobbler.  Although Cherry Cobbler would be equally as pretty!

Before adhering the whole panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I wrapped it with a piece of 1/2″ Smoky Slate Gingham ribbon.

The sentiment, from the Friendship’s Sweetest Thoughts stamp set, is stamped in Basic Black on a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 1 1/8″ X 3 3/4″.  I backed it with a Real Red panel cut at 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″.  This panel is glued directly to the embossed panel with Tombow glue.

The sweet little basket of flowers are from the Bike Ride Bundle.  I stamped the basket in Soft Suede ink and colored the flowers using Stampin’ Write markers.  They were cut using the coordinating Build a Bike framelits and popped with dimensionals. Along with creating a fun bike, this bundle has so many cute little stamps and dies that can be used alone.  I actually love to use these “accessory” stamps and dies for this exact reason not to mention that it adds more value to your purchase.  This bundle is available in the current Annual Catalog for a savings of 10%.  However, it will be in the new Annual Catalog but not at the bundled price. I plan on giving this bundle more of my attention in the future!

To finish off the front, I added a pretty little gingham bow which I think just adds to the charm!

The inside sentiment is from March’s Paper Pumpkin kit.  I have been getting so much mileage from these sentiments.  This is just another great reason to subscribe to the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits. Even if you use  up all the paper products in the kit, the stamps and ink can be used indefinitely.

A quick run through the Big Shot with the Quilt Top Embossing Folder and the envelope is perfectly coordinated with the card….so easy!

Although my card here is a Mother’s Day card, it could easily be for almost any occasion by just changing the sentiment.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the colors and all the white texture. I also like, and hope to remember to use, your envelope detail. I think it is the red and white that is so striking.

Loretta…no the envelope flap was just run through the big shot. It folds over the embossing folder very easily.

  4. Wow! What a simply beautiful & elegant card. Like Karen Hallam responded “clean & simple, yet with texture & color”. I emboss my envelope flaps but love your red edging. How was that accomplished?

    • Thanks very much, Audrey! I simply added a thin strip of red card stock underneath the envelope flap after embossing it.

  5. I LOVE your card! Is this embossing folder retiring?
