Toile Tidings Valentine + Bonus Card

Hello there and happy Tuesday!  I’m enjoying my second snow day in a row today.  I had a most enjoyable day cozied up inside yesterday stamping while the snow piled up outside. I’m sure we’ll be back to school tomorrow, though.

Stampin Up Valentine Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinupThis Valentine card was created using the (retired) Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper.  I love any kind of toile patterns and paired with the gingham produces such a classic look.  The heart cluster die is the Clipping Heart die from Simon Says Stamps.

  • I cut 4 of these heart clusters and glue them together for dimension. Then they were glued to a Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle.
  • I cut 3 more clusters using the 2 DSP patterns and Real Red card stock.  Using the paper piecing technique, I inserted the various hearts into the heart “frame” for an inlaid look.
  • The rhinestones were colored with a red Sharpie.
  • The sentiment is from the (retired) Good Greetings stamp set and is stamped with Real Red ink.  It’s cut with a die from my stash and adhered with dimensionals.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set.

So what usually happens when I’m stamping is that I’ll wonder what the card I just created would look like using a different color, pattern or stamp set.  I had some of the Boho Indigo Designer Series Paper left on my desk from this card HERE, so I created a card that could be a Valentine or just a friendship card.

I changed the orientation but used the same technique.  The stamp set is Thoughtful Greetings from Pretty Pink Posh.  I’m always looking for unique and expressive sentiments and this set has quite a few.

So using basically the same technique and most of the same products, I was able to create two different cards.  I can use both for Valentine’s Day or save one for just sending “happy thoughts”.

I’ve decided to continue to offer the version of this calendar below and set of wreaths throughout the month of February.  After February, they’ll no longer be available.  Here’s how you can get one…

  2. Rosanne, I love the beautiful Valentine cards. Enjoy your day!

  3. I LOVE, LOVE your 2 cards and the calendar wreaths!!! GREAT ideas!!
I agree with your decision to continue with current & retired SU products as well as using other non-SU items. Your cards are always lovely & inspiring! If a follower doesn’t have exactly the item you used, another item can be easily substituted. I have a huge stash of SU and non-SU so I mix & match on every card. Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations!!!!

  4. Stunning but fun! Love both of these cards. I think the red version peeked out ahead due to toilet paper and loving the gingham. But, I really like the other as well. So fun. Loving your wreaths with the calendars. Well done!

  5. Great idea. I have soooo much of this paper and St. Valentine’s Day will be a good time to use some. How about St. Patrick’s day for the green?

  6. That is such a pretty card. I agree with you on using SU products, which we love, but also using products from other companies. I think it enriches your creativity and makes for the perfect card for a particular person. I do Stampin’ Up as a hobby and wouldn’t think of getting rid of my retired sets. In fact, when my upline sells hers after each season, I snatch them up to add to my collection. Use whatever makes your heart happy.

  7. You are so very talented as your cards showcase! There is so much product out there to inspire creativity and I love the way you mix and match! We all have retired products in our stash and I appreciate the reminder to use it!

  8. Beautiful cards

  9. Love your card with it`s clever details . Especially the small hearts with inlays ! I thought you had used The Many Hearts Dies ,but surprised it isn`t ! The blue card really makes me more inclined to want to use more HEARTS throughout the year. Especially what we have been through this past year !!!
    I can`t pick a favorite I love them both !!
