Black & White vs. Technicolor?

Happy new week!  Today I’m sharing one card design two ways: one colored and one black and white.  I hope you’ll share with me which one you like best in the comments. Here’s the black and white one…

Card Details

  • The A2 card base is Basic White thick card stock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.
  • The next layer is Basic Black card stock cut at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.  This is glued directly to the card base.
  • The next Basic White panel is cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • I cut a scalloped heart using the Be Mine Stitched dies in the Basic White panel.
  • The floral pattern is from the True Love DSP and is inset between the cut-out heart and black panel.
  • After gluing the white panel over the DSP, I cut 3 more hearts from Basic Black card stock and created a dimensional frame for the floral heart.

  • The sentiment for each card is from the Pretty Perennial stamp set.  I cut the “happy” using the Brother Scan n’ Cut.

Since I really enjoy coloring, I’m partial to the colored card.  I’ve had so much fun coloring the images in the True Love DSP that I have a few other projects featuring this DSP which I colored.  So while I love seeing black and white DSP, I know it won’t stay that way!

Thanks for stopping in today.

Take care,

Rosanne

  1. Well, Rosanne, they are both so pretty, of course, but I was leaning toward the B&W. I would never have the patience to sit and color in those flowers. I am so happy you like to color and I am looking forward to your creations.
    Have a blessed day.

  2. Such pretty cards. Both are stunning the black and white looks so elegant. Great job.

  3. The colored one!

  4. Hmmmmm….I will say that it is a toss up and I know that is not what you wanted to hear! I am a HUGE fan of Black and White as I think that there is nothing as crisp and classic as that…..but then again….the one with color is just wonderful as well!

Sorry that I am not much help…guess you just have to keep making more BEAUTIFUL cards!

  5. I loved both of them! I am big on black an white-but the colored one was just as pretty!

  6. I like the colored one better. I am not a fan of monochromatic ones or black & white.

  7. How did you learn to use the scan and cut

    • Karen, I watched YouTube videos. I still probably don’t use it to it’s fullest but it’s relatively easy to cut stamped images.

  8. Your coloring is terrific. Loved all the colors you used in the floral heart. Thanks for sharing!
