It’s World Cross Stitch Day!

Who knew there was a World Cross Stitch Day?  I certainly didn’t but I’m happy there is.  I’ve recently picked this hobby up again and have to say that I’m loving it just as much as I did when I was younger.  When my girls were young, I cross-stitched a lot.  It was so relaxing to stitch while they were napping or in bed for the night.  I think when I discovered stamping, cross-stitch went by the wayside.  Now that I’m recently retired, I have more time to enjoy both hobbies.

So in honor of this day, I created a card combining both stamping and cross-stitch.

This is such a cute stamp and die set from Neat and Tangled: Handstitched.   The embroidery hoop was perfect to create a shaker card, which are always fun! Even the sentiment looks stitched.  I pulled some paper from my stash that had tiny x’s for a sweet background.

I’m playing along with this month’s Flower Challenge HERE

Here a quick look at my most current completed cross-stitch project.  Obviously, it’s not completely finished as I’m still trying to figure out how I would like to display it. I love vintage Halloween decorations and this reminded me of that.

Thanks for stopping by today to learn about my other hobby (i.e. passion).  I would love to hear about any additional hobbies you enjoy.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend,

Rosanne

  1. LOVE your counted cross stitch piece!!! I loved doing it! I started in 1971 when it was just reemerging. But sadly I had to stop about 18 years ago because the arthritis in my hands wouldn’t let me hold the needle. BUT that’s when I discovered card making and a whole new habit emerged!!! Happy Stamping and Stitching!!

  3. Oh, my goodness Rosanne, how clever to create an embroidery hoop shaker on your pretty card and the bright colors of the flowers are just the perfect topper! Your embroidery project for Halloween definitely has a vintage feel and is so charming. Thanks so much for sharing your card with us at The Flower Challenge and your embroidery project was a wonderful bonus to see!

  4. Perfectly fun way to add the ‘circle’! Love it!
