I have a colorful, fun Valentine to share today. The backstory behind this card is that my two young grandsons, Jack & Luke are absolutely train-obsessed. It all started with good ole “Thomas” and has evolved to all things train related. So whenever the opportunity arises to cheer this obsession on, I take it! Thus, my Valentine card for them. And I must say I had a really good time making it!
I stamped, colored and cut the train from Sunny Studio’s Holiday Express stamp & die set. The track is from Stamps of Life train dies and the color inspiration comes from the heart patterned paper from SU’s retired Pattern Party DSP. The “smoke” sentiment” is from SU’s retired Good Greetings stamp set. I created the cloud background using stencils. This card is a larger than normal slimline which measures 9″ x 4″ to accommodate the engine and freight cars full of “love”. The envelope is a resume envelope…meaning it’s made from a better quality paper and a little thicker than a normal #10 envelope.
Here’s a peek inside…
I’m playing along with this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge HERE…I took a little liberty with the position of the sentiment.
And here is a photo of our little train enthusiasts at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum this summer.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week is going well!
Take care,
Rosanne
Rosanne your train-mad grandsons are going to love this Valentine train – all aboard, choo choo! The little carriages filled with colourful hearts are adorable. Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
Roseanne, what a pair of cuties and thank you for the background story on your card. Your little train and carriages are a genius take on the sketch. I love the bright colors, too. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week
