Welcome to our first CASEing Coast to Coast stamping adventure of 2024. Karen Hallam in California and myself here in Pennsylvania have been enjoying this monthly collaboration for several years now and we’re back for another. Each month, we take a turn at choosing the direction of our project. Also, I wanted to give a great BIG shout out to Karen for creating this fantastic graphic. It perfectly depicts “bridging” our projects.
To start the year, Karen has chosen a perfectly adorable theme…Be(e) Mine, Valentine. Here is Karen’s card, which I think is absolutely charming!
If haven’t already been out west, please head over to Karen’s blog HERE to see all the wonderful details. Those vellum wings embossed in gold are fabulous!
…and here’s what I came up with…
I’ve decided that this year, I’ll be doing a lot more of “Stamping My Stash”, so I pulled out Honey Bee Stamps, Build a Bee stamp set and coordinating dies to create today’s card.
Along with the Bee stamps, I also used SU’s new Mini Alphabet dies. I absolutely love them, I know I’ll get a lot of mileage from these dies. What I really like about them is that it’s only one large die and not individual letters. I cut out several sets and put them in a little container so I can reach for them whenever I want to compose a sentiment. For today’s card, I cut a set from black card stock and a set from red card stock to layer. The honeycomb embossing folder is also from my stash. And the black & white checked patterned paper is from a retired SU collection.
The inside sentiment is from a very “vintage” SU set called, Nice Mice. It’s an cute set with adorable images. I may just have to create a whole card with it for this Valentine’s Day.
If I know where the product I used came from, I’ll be sure to note it. However, my stash is years and years old so some items are sure to be retired or from companies that are no longer in business. I don’t mind that and actually enjoy reaching for long unused products. I’ve reminded myself that there isn’t an expiration date on these products. I want to be more mindful of using what I have (which, like most of us, is a lot) without having to have all the latest and the greatest only to use it once or even not at all. While I know that there will be new products that I “must” have, I also know that I’m going to find much satisfaction and fun in this year’s “Stamping My Stash” exercise. And perhaps provide some inspiration for others to pull from their stash also.
Thanks for stopping by today. I’ll be back tomorrow with the first Tic Tac Toe Challenge of 2024.
