Celebrate YOU

Happy New Year’s Eve eve!  I hope you are still enjoying some holiday time this week.  I have been crafting a little more than usual this week, which is wonderful.  My card today is for two challenges.  I seem to be able to combine these challenges a little easier these days.  It seems to make it more fun, as it stretches your creativity, thus the challenge….right?!

The Pals Paper Arts sketch is a great one and wide open for interpretation.  I was quite pleased to see the challenge at Stamp Ink Paper this week, as I am a bit exhausted with Christmas cards right about now.  So to combine these two challenges was really fun.

Since the new Occasions catalog is just about to launch, I thought I would use one of my favorite sets, Butterfly Basics, from the Annual catalog before all the new sets take away my attention.  The background is the Hardwood stamp inked in Crumb Cake. I did use a new set, Suite Sayings, from the Occasions catalog for the sentiment.

The inside sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  I really like how the fonts coordinate so well with the sentiment on the front of the card, even though they are from different sets.  I am very particular about fonts and sometimes will not buy a certain set if I don’t care for the font despite the images.  These fonts are my favorites!

I really enjoyed making this card and thought it was pretty in Blushing Bride but also wondered how it would look in Wisteria Wonder.  So I made another…….

Thanks very much for taking the time to look in on my project today.

I wish you a very Happy New Year and look forward to sharing many more projects with you in 2016!

Holiday Amaryllis

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are still enjoying it.  There is so much preparation that goes into it, it is a shame it goes so quickly.  However, I must admit that I will be dismantling everything this week so I can start the New Year fresh and clutter-free.  I have been absent from the blog and from stamping in general for a lot of the month…and here is my excuse.

My youngest daughter, Emily was married on December 12th.  She is the first of our daughters to get married and is our baby!  We are very happy for her and her new husband, Mike.  They are both school teachers and met at the high school they taught at.

Now that I am back in the stamping groove, I am participating in two challenges with this card.  I love when that happens!

My card will make a perfect Thank You for all those holiday gifts.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-12-27-1219)The amaryllis stamp is one of my favorites, as amaryllis are one of my very favorite flowers.  Probably because I love growing flowers and this is one that you can grow in the middle of winter.  I am still trying to get them to re-bloom but it has been a bit of a challenge, so I just keep buying new bulbs.  The stamp set is from Wplus9 and has 4 great flower images and 2 sentiments.  The sentiments are from SU’s, One Big Meaning.  This set is a must have for Thank You notes.

The sentiment is embossed in gold on vellum. I altered the sentiment by cutting it in half.  I only wanted the top half for the front of this card.  I used to be wary of doing this but once I did it a couple of times and realized I could still use both parts, it was fine.  This is one of the reasons I purchase clear mount stamps.

Here is the completed project.  Since there is not much room to write a note on the inside with the stamped flower, I will just use the other side.

Thanks so much for stopping in on my project and please stop by again. I welcome any comments or questions.

Enjoy your Sunday,

Warm Winter Wishes – PPA #277 & #GDP013

Wow…the last day of November already!  I guess we can say that the Holiday Season is in full swing.  I haven’t started my decorating or shopping but I am full steam ahead on the crafting.

I was a little late in creating my card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge this week but as luck would have it, the new Global Design Project color challenge came out today and the colors are exactly what I used for the Pals sketch.  So I guess you can say, I hit a 2 for 1 sale!  Here are both challenges.

GDP013 Colour Challenge

When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of the sled in the Winter Wishes stamp set.

In order to fit the sentiment into the sketch, I had to separate the words on the stamp and then stack them on my clear block.  I was a little worried about cutting apart the stamp but this does give it a little more versatility.  I was able to then put them back side by side for the front of the envelope…another 2 for 1!

The inside sentiment is from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set.

I am really beginning to get hooked on these challenges.  However, the real challenge for me is to organize my time so that I can enter them in time.  I am working on that!

Thanks for looking in on my project today and please stop back again soon.

Have a wonderful day,

The Stockings are Hung – SIP #24

I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend.  Mine was spent enjoying some uninterrupted time in my craft room.  I am participating in a color challenge at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge.  Here is the very seasonal color combination.

I wasn’t completely sure how to incorporate black into this while still trying to make a holiday card.  But I think the little bit of black that I did use was just enough to really bring out the other two colors.

While I am a true fan of Stampin’ Up! sometimes I like to reach into my other stamps for a little change.  This time I thought this adorable House Mouse stamp would be fun to work with.  I love these mice and have quite a collection of stamps featuring them…so stay tuned for more.  All the cardstock and DSP is from Stampin’ Up!  The stockings were paper pieced to create the pattern on them.  The sentiment is from SU’s Peaceful Wreath set and is stamped in Cucumber Crush ink.  And until I invest in some stitched dies, I created my own stitches around the image with Watermelon Wonder marker.

I embellished the inside of the card with some DSP and Cardstock for a little added interest along with the envelope flap.  This card is ready to go into my stash of Christmas cards to send out in the next week or two.  I do love having a variety of cards to send depending on the recipient.

Thanks very much for stopping by and looking in on my project today.  It is such a cold and dreary day here in Southeastern PA which makes it a perfect day to continue my weekend of crafting.  I hope you, too have a wonderful day!
