PPA #254 Color Challenge – Lovely Lattice

It’s another Pals color challenge.  This challenge had me stumped for awhile, as I was not sure how to incorporate a cheerful shade of pink with the Soft Suede.  But I think my interpretation works.  Here are the challenge colors.

Here is what I came up with….finally!

001

I first chose to use Soft Suede cardstock for the card base primarily to get it out of the way.  However, then I wanted to see if I could indeed use all three ink colors in this card as well.  I stamped two pieces of Very Vanilla with the Hardwood background stamp in Soft Suede.  Then I cut the center out of one stamped piece using the second largest die in the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to create a window.  The lattice strips are cut at 1/4″ from the second stamped piece.  Here is how they were laid out to create the lattice background.

Once the lattice was in place, I stamped a flower from the Flower Shop set in the new in-color, Watermelon Wonder and used a blender pen to fill in the petals a bit.  Then I stamped a small flower from the Petite Petals set in So Saffron.  Both were a cinch to cut using their coordinating punches.  I added a Soft Suede candy dot to the center of each.  Seems for not knowing how I was going to use the Soft Suede, I found numerous ways!  The flowers were attached to the card using dimensionals.  Lastly, a banner across the front was stamped with a sentiment from the Sheltering Tree set.  It really is fun to use several sets to bring a card together.  The possibilities can be endless.

The inside of the card and the envelope were also stamped to coordinate with the card.

I love the look of the lattice and can see this made in so many different color combinations for a cheerful card.  I actually also made this card for a challenge my upline, Susan Itell hosted a few weeks ago.  Her challenge was to only use one color card stock and one color ink.  Here was my submission.

You can see how colors can change the whole look and feel of a card.  This one looks clean and fresh while the other looks very rustic.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my project.  Please come back again, soon!

PPA #251 Color Challenge – Bright Birthday Wishes

Time for another Pals color challenge.  I loved working with the colors in this challenge as they are so bright and cheerful.

Since polka-dots are also very cheerful, I thought that the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set was the perfect choice for a very happy Happy Birthday card.  The background of the card is stamped with this (sadly) retiring stamp set, along with a tiny stamp from the Flower Patch stamp set to fill in some of the white space.  It is amazing how the tiniest of stamps can add the perfect touch!  A little side note, I actually lost this tiny stamp for awhile and was contemplating purchasing a whole new set just to replace it.  However, after months on the missing stamp list, I found it stuck to the back of a retiring stamp set that I was pulling off my shelf…got lucky.

The other stamp sets used on this card are the Oh My Goodies and Petite Pairs for the sentiment.  Oh My Goodies coordinates with the Deco Framelits.  I finished it off with a bow made from Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon.

The envelope is easily embellished with a simple stamp on the front and a piece of Tempting Turquoise DSP from the Brights DSP Stack on the flap.  So easy for a perfect finishing touch.

I hope this card brighten your day a little.  Thanks so much for looking in…please come back soon.

PPA #250 Color Challenge – Feathers For You

6a00e54f95df92883401b7c7857242970b

Time for another Pals challenge.  When I first saw the color combination of this challenge, I was a little stumped.  After several unsuccessful attempts at using the three cardstock colors, the light bulb went off…USE DSP as your guide….duh!  The perfect DSP was sitting right in my stash with the Lullaby collection.

018

Truly the DSP did all the work for me on this card.  The rest of the card layout really just fell into place.  I cannot believe that I’ve had the Four Feathers stamp set and coordinating die for so long and have never used it until now.  Boy, I’ve been missing out and will have to make up for lost time, as I loved working with this set.

012

As always, the envelope received some attention, too.  For this liner, I simply stamped the feathers on a piece of copy paper and then used the Envelope Liner die to cut it out.  So simple and lightweight for mailing.

015

The inside of the card also received a little TLC as well as the envelope flap. I think the small strip of DSP on the envelope flap is the perfect touch, especially since that was really all the DSP I had left without cutting into a brand new piece.  I must admit that I am truly a paper miser…there is not a piece of scrap that is too small for me to save.

Komen Race For the Cure in Philadelphia on Mother’s Day.  It is our Mother’s Day tradition as our family has been very affected by this disease.  The background is the Schuylkill River and Boathouse Row.  Not the best picture of us…but a great day and cause.

Thanks so much for taking time to visit and I hope you will stop by again.

Petal Potpourri…..for PPA 249

What a fun sketch for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge.

6a00e54f95df92883401b7c77db942970b-400wi

The focal point of this card has to be the bold and beautiful flowers from the Crazy About You stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  Talk about a versatile set…there are not many occasions that this stamp set could not address.  The flowers were a cinch to create using the Flower Medallion punch.  Add the flowers from the Petal Potpourri stamp set and you have a the makings of many, many cards for just about every occasion.

001

The color combination was obviously inspired by the cheerful DSP Stack, All Abloom.  This is a great paper collection and I will be sad to see it go but will definitely use it until it is gone.  I paired it with the Island Indigo DSP from the Regals DSP Stack, another that will be leaving soon.

003          002

The hello and inside sentiment are from the Perfect Pennants stamp set and happily will be here for another year.  I use both of these sentiments frequently.  These are both stamped with Lost Lagoon Ink. I used the Banners Framelits to cut the Hello sentiment.   The envelope is spiffed up with the same Island Indigo DSP I used on the card.

WOW…three challenges in three weeks!  I should have started this sooner!

My goal now is to post more frequently, as I am really starting to get the hang of it….I think!  Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon.
