Petal Potpourri…..for PPA 249

What a fun sketch for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge.

The focal point of this card has to be the bold and beautiful flowers from the Crazy About You stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  Talk about a versatile set…there are not many occasions that this stamp set could not address.  The flowers were a cinch to create using the Flower Medallion punch.  Add the flowers from the Petal Potpourri stamp set and you have a the makings of many, many cards for just about every occasion.

The color combination was obviously inspired by the cheerful DSP Stack, All Abloom.  This is a great paper collection and I will be sad to see it go but will definitely use it until it is gone.  I paired it with the Island Indigo DSP from the Regals DSP Stack, another that will be leaving soon.

The hello and inside sentiment are from the Perfect Pennants stamp set and happily will be here for another year.  I use both of these sentiments frequently.  These are both stamped with Lost Lagoon Ink. I used the Banners Framelits to cut the Hello sentiment.   The envelope is spiffed up with the same Island Indigo DSP I used on the card.

WOW…three challenges in three weeks!  I should have started this sooner!

My goal now is to post more frequently, as I am really starting to get the hang of it….I think!  Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon.

Just Because…for the PPA #248 Sketch Challenge

Last week was my first Pals color challenge and this week my first sketch challenge.  I am quickly getting hooked on the challenge circuit.  They really make you stir your creative juices to come up with a card design and who doesn’t need a little shake and stir once in a while.  Here is the sketch we had to work with.

For this card, I used a crumb cake notecard and envelope.  They are the perfect size for a quick note and just always ready to go.  The crumb cake DSP is from the Neutrals Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stacks.  These stacks are usually my go to DSP for most cards and definitely envelopes.  They make it so easy to create a beautifully coordinated card.

The Deco Labels Framelits in calypso coral and crumb cake are the centerpiece of the card with the crumb cake layer embossed with the perfect polka dots embossing folder.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.  I think I purchased this set just for that stamp as I love the cursive font.  The sentiment banner is finished off with a few sweet little flower punches from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack….another little set that packs a huge punch (no pun intended!) and is so useful. Add a few pearls and you have a sweet little card…Just Because!

Again, I used the Neutral Background DSP Stack to tie it all together.  This is a very easy card to recreate using different color combinations and to have on hand to send for so many different reasons.

Thanks so much for spending some time here and I hope you stop back again.

PPA #247 Color Challenge – Purple, Purple and More Purple…..

The Pals challenge this week is basically a variation of three shades of purple.  This was a very welcome challenge as it is my first time participating and while we are on the subject of firsts….my very first blog post, too.  Boy, was this a journey!  Although like most of us, I spend a better part of my day on the computer, setting up this blog was slow and painful.  But, hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here (hopeful thinking on my part?).  So let’s get back to the challenge at hand…

013

This is the standard A-2 card in Perfect Plum.  The Very Vanilla layer is trimmed 1/4″ smaller on each side and stamped with the Petal Potpourri stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink.  After stamping, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Fancy Fan embossing folder which is really not that evident in this picture but really enhances the card.  The Blackberry Bliss, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant pennants are trimmed with the Stampin’ Trimmer and flagged with the 1″ Square Punch.  The sentiment I chose was from the Oh My Goodies stamp set and was stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut with the Deco Labels Framelits.

I always feel like the inside of the card must be prettied up or at least  made a little interesting.  So I stamped the same image off the page a little to allow more room for a note or another sentiment.  When I am happy with a card I create, I usually make at least two more to have on hand.  With this in mind, I leave the inside blank and do not adhere it to the card.  When I am ready to send it, I will stamp a sentiment or write my note and then glue it.  Why?  Because I mess up sometime and at least I can save the front of the card from the trash!  And the envelope is always decorated.  In this case with using the 2014-2016 Designer Series Paper Stack.

So there it is…..finally out there!  Thanks so much for taking time to look at this post and I hope you will stop back again soon.
