Stampin Up Clean & Classic Sympathy Card - Rosanne Mulhern

Happy Monday…I hope you had a nice weekend.  Even though it was officially the last weekend of summer, I think most of us have already moved onto fall.  I know that I have, especially with card making.  The Holiday Catalog has such great stamps sets, bundles and embellishments for the fall holidays.  I try not to rush the seasons too much, so I’ll be taking some time to create for this season and it’s holidays before moving onto Christmas.  This way I feel that I get the most value from the seasonal sets I purchase.  How about you…is fall a big card making incentive for you or do you like to dive into the Christmas season as soon as possible?

For the focal point on today’s card, I pulled a set that came out in last year’s holiday catalog and was carried over in the annual catalog…Paisleys & Posies.  When this set came out, it was a huge hit and then like most things, got pushed aside for newer products.  I think it’s a great set and has a lot of staying power for cards for any occasion.

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Chocolate Chip card stock with a mat of a pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series paper collection.

  • I used a retired corner rounder punch on the bottom of both.
  • Next I cut a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock at 4 1/8″ x 2 1/4″ and another pattern from Painted Autumn DSP at 4 1/8″ x 2.
  • The scalloped edging was created by lining both pieces together so they are equal on one side and using the scalloped framelit from the Seasonal Layers framelits.

  • The sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip in on Very Vanilla card stock and cut with an oval from the Stitched Shapes framelits.
  • Then it’s directly adhered to a scalloped framelit from the Layering Ovals framelits cut in Peek-a-Boo Peach card stock.  Next it’s layered with Stampin’ Dimensionals on another stitched oval cut in Chocolate Chip card stock.
  • The whole medallion is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the card.  Never underestimate the power of Stampin’ Dimensionals!  The effect they create makes a true difference!
  • The darling little acorns were hand cut from another pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and added again with…Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals!
  • A simple bow made from Linen Thread “ties” it altogether!

  • The sentiment is from the new Painted Harvest stamp set and coordinated so well with the sentiment I used on the front of the card.
  • This is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, although it looks like Basic Black in this picture.

  • Probably one of the things I like most about this card is the coordinated envelope.  It was created the same way the scallop on the card was made and makes such unique envelope.

I’m entering this card into the SUO Challenge HERE.  The theme is autumn colors.

Thanks very much for stopping by today and I hope you have a good week ahead.

Take care,

Rosanne
